Service Before Self
A continuing legacy of service. JETY Inc. started as an idea during a campfire talk between best friends. After 25 years of service in uniform, James wanted to continue serving by creating and leading a small business specializing in engineering consulting and construction management for federal agencies that provide vital services to the American people.
Why the JETY name?
JETY is an acronym: James Earl Tenty Yare. James drew the second two words from his Scottish heritage, and they describe how we work.
Tenty — attentive, watchful, careful. The kind of attention that catches a problem before it reaches the critical path, and that spots an opportunity before it passes. It's the discipline we bring to oversight, documentation, and risk management.
Yare — ready, alert, nimble. The kind of readiness that turns plans into action without hesitation. It's how we respond to RFIs, change orders, and the unexpected: with speed, decisiveness, and the right people in the room.
Both words trace back to old Scots, used by Scotland's national poet, Robert Burns — and they aren't accidents. They are the standards we hold ourselves to on every project. Tenty in our oversight, yare in our response.

In modern English: The best-laid plans of mice and men often go astray, and leave us nothing but grief and pain instead of the joy we were promised. Tenty in our oversight. Yare in our response. Burns wrote that line in 1785 after a plough turned up a field-mouse's winter home — a small lesson in how even careful work can produce unintended consequences. It's why disciplined project management exists, and why we built JETY around it.
